Ok, So if anyone whether it is a company or a single individual wants to make a 3D animation film, then the first thing he/she has to do is to finalize an idea on paper.
You can make small changes later but the basic concepts of the film should be finalized as making the changes in the basic concept later will cost you a lot of time which will cos...t you for more money, so it is always better to finalize an idea first.
Once you finalize you story idea then you needs to start working on getting a very good script written by a professional script writer.
The script should be tight and it should have all the essence needed to make a successful story and the audiences should enjoy you film, they should engage themselves while watching you film. So make sure that you do the scripting right by hiring a very good writer.
You should take your time to get this correctly done by reviewing and having script meetings so that all the errors and alterations get corrected in early stages of production only.
Remember, while your writer is writing the script you should discuss with him the characters of your film and nuances of each character, this will deeply help you in the stage of character designing and storyboarding.
